Architectural Heritage Rehabilitation Conference at the Official College of Architects of Tenerife (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 13-15 December 2022)

On 13, 14 and 15 December 2022, the coordinator of our business initiatives, Miguel Muñoz, attended the Architectural Heritage Rehabilitation Conference, organised by the Official College of Architects of Tenerife (COACTF). The aim of this event was to encourage debate on how to intervene in the built cultural heritage, striking a balance between the conservation of the historical legacy and the needs of today's society. The conference took place at the COACTF headquarters, located in the Plaza del Arquitecto Alberto Sartoris (Santa Cruz de Tenerife), next to the Rambla de Santa Cruz.

In this way, Miguel Muñoz was able to contact the Dean of the COACTF and the professionals from the architecture and other sectors who took part in the three days of the event, in order to inform them about our business initiatives. In this regard, our coordinator wanted to highlight the proposals made by Jerónimo Padrón López and Alejandro Díez Martín, both architects from our drafting team, for the "Parque Tecnológico Playa Paraíso" project and for the initiative to build a marine research centre and a marina in the surroundings of the Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife.

Among the papers presented at this event, it is worth mentioning the one given by the architects Juanjo López de la Cruz and María González, who are part of the Sol89 architecture studio. In this intervention, both architects highlighted the importance of landscape restoration on the Andalusian coasts, especially with regard to the recovery of old jetties. These traditional infrastructures can constitute an alternative to elements such as marinas, which have a greater environmental impact on the coast. Also of note was the presentation by Argeo Semán Díaz, Dean of COACTF, who gave a speech on the Special Plan for the Protection of the historic centre of La Orotava.

Therefore, the aim of our coordinator is to put Jerónimo Padrón in contact with the Sol89 studio, especially with the architect López de la Cruz, who, in addition to his professional work, teaches at the technical school of architecture of the University of Seville. In fact, López de la Cruz's proposal for the recovery of jetties could be transferred to our initiative to build a marine research centre and a marina in the area surrounding the Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife, in the event that, for economic or environmental reasons, the intervention originally planned for the coastal area of Playa Paraíso could not be carried out.

Our assessment of the event is very positive, not only because of the need to contribute to landscape integration and sustainable development through architecture and urban planning, but also because it has allowed us to get in touch with different professionals in this sector to let them know about our business initiatives. We would like to congratulate COACTF and all the people who participated in this event for their work.

Miguel Muñoz
