The V Encounter of the Seas, an opportunity for Tenerife

On 16, 17, 18 and 19 July 2023, the coordinator of our business initiatives, Miguel Muñoz, attended the V Encuentro de los Mares, an event dedicated to the protection of marine ecosystems, sustainable development and gastronomy. Organised by the Vocento group with the support of the Cabildo of Tenerife, the event consisted of a series of conferences, travelling exhibitions and gastronomic displays, held in various locations on the island of Tenerife.

The official inauguration of the event took place on Sunday 16 June, while on Monday 17 the first days were held in the Tenerife Auditorium.

On Tuesday 18 July, the second days of the event were held in Puerto Colón (Adeje, south of Tenerife) with an extensive programme of presentations. Amongst the topics dealt with, the approach of artisanal fishing to the world of gastronomy stood out, with the presentation of different chefs of national and international relevance, who offered a sample of their avant-garde cuisine. They were joined by various specialists in the protection of the sea and the sustainable use of its resources. The second day of the event culminated in a whale watching boat trip from the south coast of Tenerife.

On the third day (Wednesday 19 July), the closing ceremony was held at the emblematic Iberostar Selection Sábila hotel, located in Playa Fañabé. Alexandra Cousteau, granddaughter of the famous underwater explorer Jacques Cousteau, gave a speech on research and protection of marine ecosystems.

The 5th Meeting of the Seas is a commitment to protecting the oceans and the sustainable use of marine resources, in line with the strategic lines of research on which public administrations, universities and scientific centres in Spain and around the world are working. In any case, this is an excellent opportunity to make the most of marine resources, promoting small-scale fishing and its link with gastronomy, and to promote restaurants, leisure and tourism linked to the sea. In this sense, the tastings offered by the chefs taking part in the conference are a high added-value bet.

Finally, it is worth mentioning the work of our lawyer and collaborator Ramiro Rosón, who has been instrumental in the development of our marketing strategy. Currently, our collaborator is completing a PhD in Law at the Carlos III University of Madrid, which will conclude with the defence of his doctoral thesis on 29 September:

As can be seen in the photo below, after the V Encuentro de los Mares Miguel Muñoz and Ramiro Rosón met at the bar El Plan B del Goya, located near Parque La Granja in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which has become a reference leisure venue.
