The Architectural Heritage Rehabilitation Conferences, held on December 13, 14 and 15, 2022 at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Architects’ Association, constituted a highly relevant forum in the field of architecture and heritage conservation. Under this theme, the event brought together prominent professionals and specialists, offering a space for reflection, exchange of ideas and updating of knowledge on architectural rehabilitation.
Our coordinator, Miguel Muñoz, had the opportunity to attend these conferences as a guest representing the Playa Paraíso 2010‑Adeje Technological Park initiative, which proved to be an especially enriching experience both educationally and professionally. Attending allowed not only a deeper understanding of the content presented in the lectures, but also the establishment of valuable direct contact with a broad group of participating architects.
In this context, interaction with various professionals was particularly significant, including the Seville‑based architecture studio SOL89, led by María González and Juanjo López de la Cruz. This team has expressed interest in collaborating with the architects drafting our initiatives, opening the door to future synergies for the organisation of a second presentation conference. Indeed, the career of Juanjo López de la Cruz and María González is closely linked to the University of Seville, where both carry out teaching and research work in the field of architecture, complementing their professional practice at the SOL89 studio.
Likewise, these conferences provided an excellent opportunity to publicise the two initiatives currently under development in Playa Paraíso, in the municipality of Adeje, fostering an exchange of views and the establishment of possible lines of collaboration.
After the event concluded, a summary of the experience was prepared and published on 4 January 2023 on the blog of the Playa Paraíso 2010‑Adeje Technological Park, highlighting the most relevant aspects of the conferences, as well as the contacts and insights gained from attending this important forum.
In short, participation in these conferences represented a unique opportunity for professional growth, the creation of networks, and the promotion of our initiatives within a high‑level specialised context.
Finally, we would like to thank Ramiro Rosón, our project secretary, without whose work we would not be able to publish such a quantity and variety of content. Ramiro Rosón holds a degree in Law, a Master’s degree in the Use and Management of Cultural Heritage, and a Master’s degree in Teacher Training from the University of La Laguna, as well as a PhD in Law from the Carlos III University of Madrid. He currently teaches creative writing and active ageing workshops in day centres for the elderly in Tenerife. He has published La desgracia de Orfeo y El desdén de Colombina (2007), Tratado de la luz (2008), La simiente del fuego (2016), Ruinas del paraíso (2017) and El llanto del demiurgo (2021).
