Owing to the 25th anniversary of constituting the Island Water Council of Tenerife (CIATF), the Cabildo de Tenerife has organised a series of seminars to broadcast the work of this public corporation devoted to ensure the conservation and supply of hydrological resources in the island. At the beginning, the seminars would be held each Tuesday during September, but, due to the rise of Covid-19 contagions in Canary Islands, only the session on Tuesday 2nd September could be held and the authorities decided to postpone the other sessions until further notice, once the decline of contagions allows carry them out with proper security conditions.
The coordinator of our entrepreneurial initiatives, Miguel Muñoz, atended the seminar held the 2nd September, in the Antonio Pintor courtyard of the Archaeology and Nature Museum (MUNA), located in the centre of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This seminar included the interventions of the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, the counsellor of the Ecological Transition area, José Antonio Valbuena, and the lawyer Martín Orozco Muñoz. During this seminar, Martín and Valbuena explained to the attendants the policies and programmes carried out by the CIATF in order to obtain hydrological resources in a sustainable way in Tenerife. On his behalf, Orozco Muñoz gave a lecture about the Water Act of Canary Islands and its institutional framework.
From our entrepreneurial initiatives, we want to congratulate the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife and the CIATF for their work on behalf of public hydraulic resources and the water supply in the island. In this sense, some actions done by the CIATF, such as setting up of hydraulic facilities and conservation of ravines and groundwater reserves, must be considered essential in order that Tenerife can have enough, sustainable and quality hydrological resources.
