The Tenerife Fashion Beach Costa Adeje (TFBCA) held its ninth edition from 21 to 26 September in the south of the island. Promoted by the Cabildo de Tenerife and Adeje Town Council, it is the leading swimwear fashion event in the Canary Islands. Approaching its tenth anniversary, it set out to reinvent its origins, with local design and sustainability as its main themes. One of the novelties was the earlier dates.
The programme went well beyond the catwalk: a creation workshop for aspiring swimwear entrepreneurs, the Fashion Forum with Canarian influencers, the inclusive Fresh Face casting in Adeje's Plaza de España and an accessories market at The Duke Shop. A "Plastic Free" beach action at Playa del Duque and Torviscas removed single-use plastics and swapped reusable bottles for tickets to the show. The ocean cause and the involvement of local people ran through the whole week.
The grand finale was the Designers' Runway at Playa del Duque Norte, with eleven swimwear labels and accessory brands from the islands' warm-weather fashion programmes. For the first time, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, La Palma, Lanzarote and La Gomera were all represented together. More than a fashion show, the TFBCA works as a tourism showcase and a boost for talent, jobs and training around Canarian fashion. Here are the news pieces and posts where you can follow it.
