The swimming pools of La Maceta, a luxury for the Canary Islands

The Municipality of La Frontera has presented this Tuesday the project for the integral reform of the bathing area of La Maceta, which will create a solarium, a leisure area and a new pool that will expand the natural pools.

The project has been put out to tender for 495,303 euros and will take an estimated seven months to complete, according to the Municipality in a press release. The works will begin in September, taking advantage of the months of bonanza and the inter-tidal periods.

Financed by the European Union with Next Generation funds, the works will provide this bathing area with a new swimming pool of 785.43 square metres (larger than the existing 724.30) and a maximum length of 39.81 square metres.

Likewise, the roofs of the picnic area and the barbecue grills will be replaced; new tables will be installed and common areas will be refurbished; and masonry and painting work will be carried out, the sand floor of the picnic areas will be cleaned and restored, and energy-saving lighting will be replaced.

From our business initiatives, we applaud this initiative of La Frontera Municipality, which will result in one of the best bathing areas in the Canary Islands, and we consider that this type of project is in line with what we suggest for the area around the Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife: a sports marina with a sea research centre, which will include a bathing area for the general public. Las piscinas de La Maceta, un lujo para Canarias

El Ayuntamiento de La Frontera ha presentado este martes el proyecto de reforma integral de la zona de baño de La Maceta, que creará un solarium, una zona de ocio y un nuevo vaso que ampliará las piscinas naturales.

El proyecto se ha licitado por 495.303 euros y contará con un plazo de ejecución estimado de siete meses, según detalla el Ayuntamiento en un comunicado. Las obras se iniciarán en el mes de septiembre, aprovechando los meses de bonanza y los periodos intermareales.

Financiados por la Unión Europea con fondos Next Generation, los trabajos dotarán a esta zona de baño de una nueva piscina de 785,43 metros cuadrados (mayor que la ya existente de 724,30) y una longitud máxima de 39,81 metros cuadrados.

Igualmente, se sustituirán los techos de la zona de mesas del merendero y los asaderos; se instalarán nuevas mesas y se acondicionarán zonas comunes; y se ejecutarán labores de albañilería y pintura, limpieza y restitución del suelo de arena de los merenderos y cambio de luminarias de bajo consumo.

Desde nuestras iniciativas empresariales, aplaudimos esta iniciativa del Ayuntamiento de La Frontera, que dará lugar a una de las mejores zonas de baño de Canarias, y consideramos que este tipo de proyectos se alinea con lo que sugerimos para las inmediaciones del Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife: una marina deportiva con un centro de investigación del mar, que incluirá un área de baño para el público en general. Tercera y cuarta convocatoria de nuestro encuentro con estudiantes

Tras la publicación de la segunda convocatoria de nuestro encuentro con estudiantes, hemos decidido lanzar una tercera y cuarta convocatoria. La tercera tendrá lugar el 4 de julio de 2024, a las 18:00, en la cafetería del Hotel Laguna Nivaria, y la cuarta el 11 de julio de 2024, a la misma hora y en el mismo lugar, para crear una lista de alumnos y profesores universitarios y de Formación Profesional que colaborarán con nuestras iniciativas. After the publication of the second call of our meeting with students, we have decided to launch a third and fourth call. The third one will take place on 4 July 2024, at 18:00, in the cafeteria of the Hotel Laguna Nivaria, and the fourth one on 11 July 2024, at the same hour and in the same place, to create a list of students and university and vocational training teachers who will collaborate with our initiatives. The pond of Las Cancelas estate, an example of sustainability

On the occasion of World Environment Day, celebrated on 5 June 2024, the coordinator of our business initiatives, Miguel Muñoz, visited on 6 June 2024 the pond located on the Las Cancelas estate (Adeje), near the area of Armeñime, as can be seen on the attached map. The photos, taken on the day of the visit, show that the pond is full of water, due to the last rains that have fallen on the island of Tenerife.

Within our business initiatives, this water infrastructure could play a decisive role, as it would allow us to store rainwater for agricultural uses or for the facilities of the "Parque Tecnologico Playa Paraíso" initiative. It is also an enclave for the observation of migratory birds, as the Canary archipelago is located in a transit area for this type of bird, and water infrastructures such as ponds and reservoirs create wetlands that attract them.

Two examples of this environmental conservation policy can be found in the ponds of San Lorenzo (Tamaraceite, Gran Canaria), the Maspalomas marshes (San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria) and the Erjos pond (Buenavista del Norte, Tenerife). These ecosystems, whether of purely natural origin or of human creation, encourage the development of aquatic vegetation and the nesting of birds in their vicinity.

La charca de la finca Las Cancelas, un ejemplo de sostenibilidad

Con motivo del Día Mundial del Medio Ambiente, celebrado el pasado 5 de junio de 2024, el coordinador de nuestras iniciativas empresariales, Miguel Muñoz, visitó el 6 de junio de 2024 la charca situada en la finca Las Cancelas (Adeje), cerca de la zona de Armeñime, como puede observarse en el mapa adjunto. Las fotos, tomadas en el día de la visita, evidencian que la charca se encuentra con agua, debido a las últimas lluvias que han caído sobre la isla de Tenerife.

Dentro de nuestras iniciativas empresariales, esta infraestructura hídrica podría desempeñar un papel decisivo, pues permitiría almacenar agua de lluvia para usos agrícolas o para los dotacionales de la iniciativa "Parque Técnologico Playa Paraíso". Igualmente, constituye un enclave para la observación de aves migratorias, ya que el archipiélago canario se encuentra en una zona de paso de este tipo de aves y las infraestructuras acuáticas, como las charcas y los embalses, crean humedales que las atraen.

Dos ejemplos de esta política de conservación ambiental se encuentran en las charcas de San Lorenzo (Tamaraceite, Gran Canaria), las marismas de Maspalomas (San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria) y la charca de Erjos (Buenavista del Norte, Tenerife). Estos ecosistemas, ya sean de origen puramente natural o de creación humana, fomentan el desarrollo de la vegetación acuática y la anidación de aves en sus inmediaciones.

Visit of our co-ordinator to the municipality of Adeje

On Thursday 6th June, the coordinator of our business initiatives, Miguel Muñoz, travelled from the university city of La Laguna to the tourist town of Adeje to inform about our future projects and to visit the Las Cancelas estate and the pond located within the boundaries of this property. It is worth noting that, at the time of this visit, the pond was full of water due to the recent rains in Tenerife. This confirms its value for the recovery of wetlands and the sighting of migratory birds, for which the Canary Islands are a place of passage.

Upon arrival in Adeje, our coordinator visited the Town Hall of this municipality, to promote our call for internships aimed at university and vocational training students, which will culminate with an informative meeting on Thursday 13 June, at 18:00 hours, in the cafeteria of the Hotel Laguna Nivaria, in which we will explain to students how they can collaborate in the future presentation of our second dissemination days. Information was also distributed at the training centre in Adeje linked to the University of La Laguna.

Once the visit to the Adeje Town Hall was over, our coordinator went to the Las Cancelas estate, where he was able to observe the current state of the pond located on this property, and then went down to the coastal area of Playa Paraíso, which has become an attractive tourist and commercial enclave in the south of Tenerife. In this area, Miguel Muñoz handed out information at the Hotel Riu Buenavista, from the surroundings of which a pleasant panoramic view of Playa Paraíso can be seen, and finally stopped to rest at the Roca Negra Sunset Club, a splendid bar-restaurant that offers privileged views of the sunsets over the sea.

From our projects, we consider that the approach to Universities and Vocational Training centres is a basic element to create an innovative and adaptable business fabric in the face of changes in the economic system. We also believe that Public Administrations and private sector agents must work closely together to implement a sustainable and lasting tourism model.
