Banco Santander has launched an initiative that will allow more than 1,300 university students in Spain to carry out paid professional internships starting this summer. The bank has earmarked more than 1.8 million euros for these programs, in collaboration with various universities, with the aim of providing students with contact with the labor market and the practical application of their academic knowledge.
Among the participating universities are the University of Seville, which offers the "Empleamus" program with 650 places for internships in companies for a maximum of six months and a total remuneration of up to 1,500 euros; the University of Murcia, with Rural Social and Health Practices and Social and Cultural Action programs, totaling 129 vacancies with remuneration of between 550 and 600 euros per month; and the Universidad a Distancia de Madrid (UDIMA), which has 26 vacancies for curricular internships with remuneration of 500 euros per month.
In addition, Banco Santander has announced that next year it will implement the "Becas Santander / Complement to Professional Internships" program, which will benefit more than 5,000 university students with grants of 500 euros to cover the costs of professional internships. This initiative reinforces the bank's commitment to education and employability, areas in which it has invested more than 2,300 million euros in the last 27 years, supporting more than 1.5 million people through agreements with more than 1,200 universities.
From our business initiatives, we applaud this Banco Santander scholarship program as an opportunity for the labor insertion of young university and vocational training students. We hope that initiatives like this contribute to the strengthening of our labor market and the promotion of human talent in the Canary Islands and the rest of Spain.
